There are many kinds of ants that invade our homes here in the Pacific Northwest. We have structural damaging species like the Carpenter Ants, Moisture Ants and Velvety Tree Ants. Ants that do no damage to wood are called nuisance ants and include Pavement Ants, Odorous House Ants, Harvester Ants, etc. Prime Pest Control technicians are trained to properly identify your specific ant invasion. We come to your home and give you a free written estimate to take care of all of your ant needs. The challenge in ant control is getting the product to the colony to achieve 100% control.

Spiders are common in homes during warm weather, although they can be found indoors any time. Their numbers usually peak during late summer and fall, during their mating season. There are some spiders we need to be wary of: brown recluse, black widow hobo and yellow sacks. These are all common in the Inland Northwest. Black widows especially like crawl spaces in homes. Spider control is usually challenging. Properties located in areas favorable to spiders, such as by rivers, lakes, or fields, are more likely to have large numbers of spiders.

Cockroaches are downright pre-historic and dirty. They live everywhere and prefer to feed on the same food that we do. They love to get established in kitchens and bathrooms. An adult American Cockroach is a red-brown color with lighter colored edges around the body and grows to about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Adult German Cockroaches measure around 1/4 to 5/8 inches long and can be easily recognized by the two dark, longitudinal stripes on the "shield" at the front of the body under which the head is located.

The adult flea lays eggs that generally falls to the floor until they hatch into a larva that feeds until it enters the pupal stage. Fleas pupate to adult when there is stimulation. That is why it is important to vacuum often after a flea treatment to get all of the fleas to pupate to achieve control. Always throw the vacuum bag away outside or seal it up to help prevent reinfestation. If you have a bagless vacuum put part of a flea collar inside. Sometimes people think they can lock the door and leave a flea infested home and time will kill the fleas.
