Builders Equipment & Tool Company had its beginning in 1945 in Houston Texas, when, as an employee, Edward C. Gilbreath opened SAFWAY Scaffolds of Houston, Inc., a subsidiary of a family-owned company based in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Eventually, while serving as branch manager, he purchased the Houston location from his employer and remained dedicated to the principals of safety, quality products and excellent customer service. In the 1940s, Ed would take orders in the morning and often deliver scaffold himself to Houston area jobs in the afternoon.
