Since 1958, Sterling Building Materials, has been a leader in serving the construction industry for architectural building specialties. Sterling Building Materials was founded by its' namesake, J. Sterling Crumpler, in 1958 with only two accounts. It was originally located above one of Lubbock's eatery landmarks, the Cast Iron Grill. J. Sterling was joined by his son, Phillip, in 1961 and they worked together for many years serving Lubbock and West Texas. Phillip Crumpler stepped into the role as President in 1972 and during his tenure the company grew to represent over 50 top manufacturers across the nation.
