New Life Painting is a full service painting contractor based in Vista, California. In business since 1993, we offer residential and commercial painting services to Northern San Diego county and Southern Orange and Riverside counties in Southern California. We can handle anything from repainting a single bathroom to some of the finest finishes. We love to do many types of faux finishes and will share here some basic techniques to give an idea of what is required. Some of our favorite faux painting techniques include wood graining (or faux bois), sponging, ragging, venetian plaster, marbleizing, and stenciling.

We all know the outside of the house takes a real beating. In most cases, exterior painting is your first lineof defense against the elements. We will discuss here some of the thingsto look for that will let you know it's time to renew your paint job. Also a few pointers on how to get the most life out of your paint andhow to know whether your painting contractor is doing the job right. First, a few simple things you can do to maintain your exterior paint and makesure you get the most out of it.

We can take your old, tired cabinets and make them look like new again with our quality cabinet refinishing services. But first a quick word about keeping them new for as long as you can. Your cabinets are a major investment, so it's critical to take care of them. Keeping them clean and dry is most important. Murphy's Soap or Melaleuca's Rustic Touch are excellent for cleaning while still protecting the wood. It is very important that you dry them immediately if they get wet. Pay special attention to areas under the sink or near the oven, microwave, or dishwasher.

Pressure washing is an important step in preparing the exterior of your home for painting and is included in every exterior paint job we do. If your home, deck, siding, or driveway just needs a good cleaning, we can provide basic pressure washing services at a reasonable rate. Keeping things clean can often help add life and beauty to your home.

Here we will discuss some of the painting services we provide. In the near future we will also give examples of some of the more common problems we run across and what you can do to avoid them. On this page we will discuss important considerations when painting the interior of your home and what you should look for when selecting a painting contractor. Faux finishes and decorative painting are some of the most fun finishes we do. Whether it's a simple sponging or ragging, stenciling, marbleizing, venetian plaster, or faux bois, these finishes can really transform a room into a totally different space.

Like exterior painting, there is a lot to take into account when painting the interior of your home as well. One thing we often don't think about is that people will see the results at much closer range, so in general everything needs to be looked at with a somewhat more critical eye. Here are a few things that need to be taken into account. As with any painting job, preparation is the key to everything. A surface that is not properly prepared will result in peeling paint, stains that bleed through, and a generally ugly appearance.

What's new?

Idea was to get as close to color of cabinet and doors in the room but not so much contrast and wild grain. Started the green color which home owner absolutely hated.

Just finished waterproofing a deck. Four part finish designed to be applied over plywood or concrete- primer (not shown), fiberglass mat, texture, and color coat. In this case we added "grout" lines to give the look of 24" tiles. Faint but they definitely add to the look.

Front door, same project as first post. Went a little darker and added more detail since this will be seen close up, not just from the curb. @ San Elijo Hills, San Marcos, California

First post to Insta, may as well start with our most recent project- faux wood garage doors. (Front door too, next post.) Client first approached us to do a gray, but then after seeing another project up the street wanted to go with those colors instead. Once we got base coat on we realized while it.
