Greensward Turf Farm, Inc. is a 45 year old family owned and operated sod turf farm located in the Washington DC Southern Maryland area of Waldorf MD. We supply residential homeowners, landscapers, landscape contractors, developers, builders, contractors with turf sod for all their landscaping and landscaping design projects. A family operated business allows controlling all the aspects of running a sod turfgrass farm. Our owners, David Hamilton Sr. and David "Skip" Hamilton, Jr., began the business in 1968.
If you have grown tired of trying to seed or plant seedling grass in sandy soil or in heavily shaded areas, we recommend you have a carpet of fescue sod installed. With regular watering, fescue will take root in such conditions.
The nice thing about a synthetic lawn is that it allows you more time for other things. Its extremely low maintenance requirements means that you won't be stuck tending to it when you could be out doing something else.

The synthetic grass on the surface is the visible portion of a multipart system. Your existing soil, which forms the underlying layer, is topped with a weed barrier. Then a base layer of material is spread and compacted before it’s topped with grass and infill.
If you notice gaps between the rolls of your newly laid sod, this indicates that the sod is shrinking due to a lack of water. Thus, it’s recommended that you increase minutes per watering as well as frequency. In addition, hand watering the gaps will help to close them.
