Wholesale Seedlings & Cuttings for Growers
Since 2000, Johnathon Lee Nursery has been a fourth-generation family-owned nursery cultivating premium deciduous tree seedlings, cuttings, and liners. Rooted in decades of horticultural expertise dating back to the 1960s, we combine generational knowledge with innovative production methods to deliver uniform, high-quality plant material. Our 150-acre facility in Oregons Willamette Valley utilizes specialized Band Pots, sterile soil practices, and volcanic pumice growing media to optimize root development and plant resilience. As industry leaders, we pioneered tissue culture liners and conifer plugs to meet evolving grower demands while maintaining rigorous cleanliness standards through triennial soil fumigation.

With consistent product sizing and global shipping capabilities, we serve both small-scale nurseries and large-scale operations, offering value-added solutions that reduce production costs and improve transplant success. Our team actively collaborates with growers to develop custom orders, ensuring our seedlings form a foundation for their long-term horticultural success.

Services
Container Seedlings
We grow container seedlings in 2 7/8" sq. x 5" deep Band Pots that prevent root circling while promoting uniform growth. Our custom soil blend maximizes aeration to develop robust root systems that survive transplanting. This method produces 18+ inch tall seedlings with consistent caliper measurements across species like Acer and Quercus.
Bare Root Seedlings
Over 150 acres of Willamette Valley farmland produces dormant deciduous seedlings harvested December-January. Treated soil fumigation and climate-controlled storage preserve viability during shipping. These seedlings establish quickly with minimal transplant shock for nursery and reforestation applications.
Rooted Cuttings
Softwood cuttings from select cultivars root in volcanic pumice to create dense fibrous root systems. Varieties include Red Maple cultivars and Betula species. Plants grow 12-18 inches tall before grading and cold storage, ready for direct field planting without intermediate containerization.
Tissue Culture Liners
Stage-3 acclimated tissue culture liners grow in Redi-Root trays for consistent transplant success. We produce custom orders and standard varieties for growers lacking lab facilities. These liners maintain genetic purity while accelerating production timelines for commercial growers.
Conifer Seedlings
Premium conifer plugs eliminate transplant shock associated with bare root seedlings. Our contained-cell growing system produces disease-resistant liners adaptable to diverse climates. We offer both standard and custom conifer species for reforestation and nursery operations.
