In 1947, a group of parents met to organize a cooperative preschool. They believed that using their own time, talents, and abilities could provide a superior school where both the children and parents would benefit from their close interaction. With the cooperation of the Northern Virginia Council of Cooperation Preschools (now the Virginia Cooperative Preschool Council), the Annandale Cooperative Preschool opened in the fall of 1947 using toys, furniture, and playground equipment built by the parents.
Check out our latest blog post from Kirsten Lee Howard on how to handle screen time for young children. Kirsten does well to remind us that grace, balance, and a patient approach to problem-solving are the keys to almost any kingdom. Find her wisdom and warmth here:https:// annandalecoop.or g/blog/

We are proud of so many things when it comes to ACPS: the incredible community of parents and caregivers that feel and act like a second family; the child-led, play-based philosophy that underpins our school's approach to education; and, the dedicated, warm, wonderful teachers that make ACPS a truly unique learning environment.
