Vivian earned her B.A. in interior design at Brigham Young University in 1983, then moved back to the Sacramento area, where she had grown up. She went on to illustrate most of the homes built in the area for the next 20 years. During this time, architects and building designers started coming to her with their design challenges and she would always find a way to help solve them. She became known to some as "The House Whisperer." In 2003, she began designing remodels and custom homes for clients, with full design and drafting services.
