Smart Accessible Living is a family owned business in the Milwaukee area that began in 2012 by Robert and Jason Pfeifer, father and son. Recognizing society's growing aging in place and senior population, the home remodeling team decided to focus their skills and experiences on serving this group of people. They are compassionate in helping aging adults remain in their home comfortably, safely, and barrier free by adapting the home around their needs. At Smart Accessible Living we have experience in customer relations, working with disabled individuals, and general construction & remodeling.
Our remodeling services will provide you the variety of resources needed to meet all of your homes need - with safety and accessibility a priority. But we differentiate ourselves from other general remodeling contractors by having: specific knowledge in universal design principals, experience in handicap remodeling, and an array of resources and partners to meet all of your needs. They take their time to make sure they are providing you with exactly you expect along with giving you ideas of what they think would be the best option.

Our most recent accessible bathroom remodel started with enlarging the footprint more than 10 sq ft in order to achieve ADA guidelines for space. We were able to do this without compromising the adjoining bedroom and closet sizes. In doing such, the toilet, shower, sink, and window were able to move.
This was previously a fiberglass bathtub, which we converted into a tiled curbless shower to better suit our customers' needs. We installed a collapsible dam at the edge of the shower floor to ensure water retention in this tight space, while shower accessories include grab bars, adjustable shower.
On this project we replaced a degraded sliding patio door with a newly framed wall, window, and door with automatic wireless opener for our customer. We also created a large patio overhang for weather protection that matches the existing house's exterior finish material, color, and dimensions to.
This once divided bathroom with a standard fiberglass shower and sinks was completely remodeled to better fit our customers' needs. We converted their shower to a tiled curbless shower, installed a roll-under sink with matching vanity and tower cabinet for extra storage, and custom made reducers.
Double stair railings are a common accessibility upgrade for added safety when you choose to stay in your home. Here we added second railings for the homeowner that matched their existing railings in shape, size and color to ensure it looks original.
