McPheeters & Associates provides Land Surveying services. We have extensive experience in boundary surveys, topographic surveys, elevation certificates and construction survey, both rural and urban, with particular emphasis in the locale of the Central and San Joaquin Valleys (Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kingsburg, Merced, Bakersfield, etc) and the Sierra Nevada (Auberry, Shaver Lake, Bass Lake, Squaw Valley, Oakhurst, Coarsegold, Sonora, etc). We also perform pre-engineering and ALTA surveys tailored to the needs of our clients.
Cadastral and Boundary Surveys are the backbone of our firm. Whether monumenting boundary lines of a metes and bound deed, marking an easement location on the ground, or searching for original Public Land Survey System (Section, Township & Range) corners, we are up for the challenge. We are familiar with researching online, at the recorder's offices and title plants and have years of experience in the field "following in in the footsteps of the original surveyor". Completion of these projects often involves preparing and filing a Record of Survey map or Corner Record with the county surveyor.
Monument Monday - This Section Corner set in 1880 and perpetuated in the early 1900s by Scott McKay (County Surveyor 1902-1918) survived the 2020 Creek Fire and control 4 square miles in the Alder Springs area between Auberry and Shaver Lake. We verified remaining ties and set new ties to help.
GPS uses satellites to calculate locations. Although it can work at night and through clouds it does not work through trees. It is a tool, and not always the right tool for the job. We rely on more traditional equipment in situations such as this.#GPSskyview #landsurveying
Field Friday - Going through the pavement old school (hammer and chisel) no jack hammer this time. Corner is supposed to be a 2" iron pipe down 14". Last referenced in 2008. Tied out in 1979.#boundarysurvey #PLSS #sectioncorner #womensurveyor #FieldFriday
More double corners on the same survey as Monday's post. We found multiple possible monuments that didn't fit together by feet. Professional decision time.#landsurveying #boundarysurvey #wilsonia #doublecorner
Monument Monday - the dreaded Double Corners. Occasionally there are two monuments meant to represent the same location set by different surveyors at different times. These monuments and the history needs to be evaluated to make a correct decision on what monument to hold for each survey. In this.
