Drake Ready Mix Inc is a service oriented; family-owned-and-operated ready-mix company conceived when a frustrated father and son team grew tired of the service they received from the "Big Boys" back when times were booming. We started our business in January of 2006 with only two concrete trucks. We now have a second location with a fleet of over 35 trucks due to excellent customer relations, honesty, and competitive pricing. Like many construction materials, concrete is measured and sold in cubic yards. In the construction industry, you'll hear people talking about how many yards of concrete they need, or how many yards they poured. With a few measurements and some simple math, you can figure out how many yards of concrete you need for your project. Another risk of not ordering enough is a called "cold joint." A cold joint is an unpleasant discontinuity between layers of concrete that occurs when one layer of concrete is allowed to harden before the rest of the concrete is poured in what is meant to be a single, solid body of concrete.
