Bill Winterstien graduated in the first Building Trades Program class from Southwestern Community College in 1968. He worked for a framing carpenter for a couple of years before buying a set of concrete forms and focusing on pouring foundations and framing new homes. In 1974, Bill and Vicky partnered with John Wick Homes out of Mazomanie, WI, and started erecting panelized homes. For more than 40 years, Winterstien Construction has provided new homes to over 500 customers in southwest Iowa. In 2008, Melissa Driskell, daughter of Bill and Vicky, joined the company to add expertise in commercial construction.
Winterstien Construction also offers Commercial Construction services. Melissa Driskell contributes 18 years of commercial construction experience to the business. Upper Crust Bakery is a new business in downtown Creston located on the corner of Maple and Adams street, where the old First National Bank was originally located.
