Jones Tree & Lawn, Inc. offers total landscape maintenance and care packages for Commercial Properties, Home Owner Associations (HOA's), Apartment Communities, Municipal, and Government Properties in the Denver Metro area and Foothill communities.

Nitrogen fertilizer comes in many forms. The cheapest form of nitrogen is Urea. Urea is extremely "hot" as it usually is a 46% formulation. The problem is that this type of fast release fertilizer can easily burn your lawn to a crisp if applied incorrectly. The other problem is that this raw form of nitrogen makes grass grow like a weed and quickly goes away. Most lawn fertilizers are a blend of fast and slow release nitrogen. This blend gives more time in between applications. Depending on the type of fertilizer used, turf grass needs an average of 4 pounds of nitrogen (N) per 1000 sq ft per growing season.

These are but a couple of examples where Landscape Enhancement from Jones Tree & Lawn can help revitalize your site. Being in the business of maintaining landscape plants and trees in the Denver Metro area, we have witnessed just about every landscape design mistake possible! Learning from the mistakes of others, as well as our own successes. A typical job might consist of removal of overgrown shrubs, possibly installing an edger to separate the lawn from the new plant bed, planting shrubs and maybe some perennial flowers that are better suited for the site, possibly a new tree, maybe some hardscape features like boulders, and finishing the area with mulch.

When you're left with a stump you essentially have two options. One is to keep the stump around and perhaps use it for a flower potholder or as a table base. We at Jones Tree & Lawn, Inc. call these "Pet Stumps" because like a good pet, they never run away. In most cases if we can get our machine to the stump, it is history. There are some limitations though. For back yard stumps we need a minimum gate opening of 36 with a straight and level shot to the area where the stump is. The mulch created from grinding stumps is especially useful for mulching bed areas.

Jones Tree & Lawn pioneered the use of the latest technologies by utilizing New Slow Release Fertilizers in the Denver Metro area back in 1996. In 2003 we converted all our lawns applications to these newer products and have never looked back. Since we made the switch we have cut our number of application visits from 5 to 4 and we still produce a great looking lawn. We will continue to research and test better products as they become available. We can also modify your program to "nutrients only" if weed control is not an issue for you.

Vole Damaged Junipers - Voles love to nest under Tammy junipers and will eat the bark off stems, causing the damaged stem to die. On occasion they will tunnel through the lawn, making little highways from one place to the next. This tunneling through the lawn is most noticeable after the snow melts off the grass. In the Denver Metro area we are fortunate to have to address only a few lawn and turf Lawn damaged by Grass or Clover mites. These insects include: grubs, sod webworm, bill bugs and cut worms.

Keeping your mowing height at 2.5" to 3" helps control certain weeds like spurge, which is a short squatty weed, by shading it out. Scalp your lawn short and expect spurge to grow! Turf quality and density also plays a part in controlling true crabgrass. Crabgrass loves the water stressed parts of your lawn. Along the sidewalks, next to the driveway, near the foundation. For most property owners in the Denver Metro area, Crabgrass is a general word for any type of grass that is not Kentucky Bluegrass.

And future work!

I've been working with Jones Tree & Lawn for many years now and have been very happy with their service. I have a lot of trees (40'ish) on my property in Boulder County, and I'm very particular about protecting that investment. I previously tried working with some other general contractors as well as with some of the more "boutique" firms in the area, but none of them ever gave me the combination of reasonable pricing, reliable service, and tailored advice I get from Jones.
