A third generation Californian, (and contractor!) John grew up in the Central Valley with dreams of becoming a farmer. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Landscape Construction before moving to the Bay Area where he sold irrigation systems to Napa wineries, managed field operations for two landscaping firms (including his own) and two constuction companies. He also did a stint as Customer Service and Operations Manager at a computer networking firm. In 1996, he founded Hammerschmidt Construction with the goal of providing superior service and project management to homeowners.
