Family owned and owner operated, The Chimney Chap, established in 1980, is a premier provider of expert chimney sweep, repair, and masonry services throughout the Boston, South Shore, and some areas of the Cape Cod region. After years of customer demands and requests, we recently applied our knowledge and background into the Fireplace & Hearth Products market which lead to the grand opening of our showroom, South Shore Fireplace. The liner is the channel that all smoke and gases pass through to exit your home. The chimney liner is inside the chimney and should be a separate component of the chimney construction. The inside of your chimney needs to be covered with a non-combustible lining that can vent the toxic hot gases and particles produced by your fireplace, stove or furnace. These linings can be made of stainless steel, casted masonry material, clay tiles or aluminum. The flue, or the channel that the chimney is vented through must be free of any cracks, holes or deterioration to keep your system running safely and efficiently.

The Chimney Chap services and cleans wood-burning fireplaces, woodstoves, woodstove inserts, gas fireplaces, pre-fab fireplaces, and gas and oil furnace flues. All of our chimney sweeps include a Level I Inspection. The National Fire Protection Association Standard 211 says, Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary. This is the national safety standard and is the correct way to approach the problem.

All Chimney Chap Services are conducted by certified technicians in the field. Sweeps, sometimes called chimney cleaners, are highly trained individuals who know how to come into your home, clean and inspect your fireplace and chimney and leave everything as clean or better when they leave. Each certified chimney sweep has not only gone through and passed the course of certification but also receives mandatory training from the Chimney Sweep Guild as well as the CSIA on an annual basis. Every one of our technicians not only knows how to sweep a chimney but also can locate problems from top to bottom that need to be replaced or repaired.
