It started with our grandfather, Pedro Mallegni of Carrara, Italy, who worked the marble quarries until World War II. After the war, he and his family left Italy for Argentina where he began his own business of cutting granite and marble blocks and selling slabs to be manufactured into countertops, vanities, and fireplaces. Claudio's brother Mauro, his sister Patricia, and he grew up in Argentina and soon joined the family business as they grew older.
