Luther and his brothers followed accepted business practices of other plumbing companies and they soon learned how overhead expenses like on-going advertising budgets impacted prices they had to charge their customers. When Luther decided to leave California and open his own company in Portland, Oregon his main ambition was to offer his customers a comprehensive list of services.
