It all came to be when we were gathering estimates on our basement. The first company to come in was a well-advertised, well-known company. They came in, put a meter on the wall, told us they were amazed our house had not collapsed and that we should have the work done immediately! About a week later, we were talking to a neighbor about how expensive they were and how we were going to afford it. He suggested we call another guy who gave us a quote for the same job at 1/3 of the price! We asked him how he could do that and his answer was, I don't think you should have to pay for my advertising.
