It is our mission to be the premiere Roofing Company by which others are measured - promoting this industry through customer satisfaction, professional integrity and expert workmanship. Our Commitment to Quality continues by the innovative integration of new technologies, materials and installation. At Silktown Roofing, we build lasting relationships, repeat customers and have developed a reputation for being the Company whose employees make the difference.
Silktown Roofing is a full-service roofing and waterproofing contractor that offers a commitment to service unmatched in the roofing industry. From the largest new construction projects, replacement on existing roofing systems, waterproofing and damp proofing projects, aggressive preventive maintenance for the entire building envelope, and the unexpected emergency leak repair, Silktown Roofing demonstrates the highest level of professional workmanship. Silktown Roofing was founded in 1984 with just 6 employees, a couple of trucks, our integrity, and a commitment to build relationships with commercial and industrial customers through service.
When considering roofing types, metal roofing is a great alternate to shingles or slate. Whether a flat seam copper roof or a standing seam roof with a painted finish, Silktown Roofing installs all types of metal roofing. We work with manufacturers who offer not only 20 year finish warranties, but 20 year weathertightness warranties. Details and assemblies are reviewed prior to construction to ensure your project conforms to industry standards and flashing and trim is tailor made in our fabricating shop to accommodate your specific jobsite conditions.
Given the nature of today's environmental considerations to build environmentally friendly buildings and to provide a sustainable long term design, owners, architects, governments and the general public are keenly interested in "sustainable, green roofing systems". As defined by the NRCA a Green Roof System is a roof area of "plantings/landscaping installed above a waterproofed substrate at any building level.". Installed correctly Green Roofs are attractive, energy saving installations that also extend the use full life expectancy of the roofing/waterproofing system.
We work with various sheet metals: copper, mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminized, fiber clad and galvanized and accommodate a variety of structural shapes. Silktown's fabrication department has continued to respond to its customers' needs by providing them with a wide variety of custom structural steel projects. Our state of the art computerized cutting, folding, and lay out equipment allows us to manufacture any metal roofing, gutter, cornice or flashing your project may require. Silktown Roofing is a competitive source for those customers that require larger fabrications.
Membrane roofs have become more prevalent in the last 40 years as an alternate to asphalt on flat roof applications. As opposed to the asphalt roofs that are constructed from multiple plies being laminated together, membrane roofs only have one ply of membrane and as also often referred to as a "single ply roof". The predominant membranes on the market today are made from EPDM, PVC or TPO. Membrane roofs have grown in popularity over the years as they are easier to install than asphalt roofs, offer better flexibility for movement and have none of the fumes or odors typically associated with hot asphalt.
Photovoltaic panels can be a great addition to your building. Solar electricity provides clean and green energy, protects against rising utility costs and reduces your carbon footprint. Unfortunately, many building owners install photovoltaic panels on their buildings without considering the impact to the roof. A photovoltaic installation with a twenty year life span needs a roof with a comparable life expectancy. Many roof manufacturers now require that existing roofs be upgraded or enhanced prior to a photovoltaic installation.
Historic restoration is where old world workmanship meets modern day code requirements. Silktown Roofing has completed many projects where strict adherence to historical aesthetics has to be combined with structural enhancement. Fortunately Silktown employs some true craftsmen in our core trades of Roofing, Sheetmetal and Carpentry. Their combined experience allows Silktown to tackle projects involving more traditional components such as ornamental copper work, slate, shake or tile roofing. Silktown has replicated a wide range of components such as antique skylights, copper window surrounds, missing window hardware and even deteriorated limestone cornice.
Silktown Roofing's Guardian tool provides an online program with the necessary building condition reports and forecast data you need to avoid potential problems and manage your roofing and waterproofing assets. As much as the manufacturer's technology and the roofing industry have advanced in the development, manufacturing, and installation techniques of current roofing systems, no roof will last forever. Mother Nature is tenacious. Forecasting roofing costs and potential problems has been notoriously difficult - more than 35% of all roofing dollars are spent on unplanned repairs.
Slate might be heavy, expensive and harder to install, but it provides one of the longest lasting types of steep slope roofing available. Slate comes in a variety of colors and is relatively maintenance free, resistant to rot and is fireproof. Slate provides a classic look and aesthetic to a building, but its high cost is often a deterrent. Additionally, not all buildings are designed for the weight of a slate roof, further limiting its usage. While the use of slate for roofing has declined, Silktown Roofing, through their numerous historic restoration projects, has become a leader in slate roof installation, restoration and repair.
