Your Garden Oasis in San Mateo
Since 1975, the San Mateo Garden Center has been a cornerstone of community engagement through horticultural education, garden preservation, and event hosting. As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, we provide accessible public spaces for gardening workshops, floral design classes, and private celebrations like weddings and memorials. Our mission focuses on promoting sustainable gardening practices, conserving natural beauty, and fostering civic engagement through educational programs and public events. With over 45 years of service, we maintain meticulously landscaped grounds featuring a dedicated rose garden, a propagation-focused garden shop, and facilities for local clubs and cultural activities. Our leadership stems from partnerships with regional garden clubs and individuals committed to environmental stewardship. We offer hands-on learning opportunities through plant propagation workshops, seasonal open gardens, and collaborations with organizations like the San Mateo County Rose Society. Our facility accommodates up to 125 guests for events, combining natural beauty with functional spaces for meetings and celebrations. Transparency in operations and community involvement remain central to our approach, ensuring the garden center serves as both an educational resource and a sanctuary. Through volunteer programs, we empower residents to develop new skills while contributing to this beloved peninsula landmark. Today, we continue evolving while honoring our founding vision of creating a shared space where nature and community thrive.

My wife and I had our wedding at the San Mateo Garden Center this past Saturday and I can't imagine having had our wedding at any other location. it is such a beautiful and peaceful place, not to mention so well-kept. Linda is out of this world AMAZING and was so helpful throughout the whole process (before, during and after). She really added so much to our day! as did Jose :) I am so happy and highly recommend this location for a wedding or any type of celebration. Look no further people!
