In 1992, AC Lockyer used his background in horticulture to look at the problem of algae streaking in a different way. Instead of utilizing traditional pressure washing equipment commonly used in the exterior cleaning industry, he went with a totally chemical approach.

SoftWash Systems is very unique in the market place when it comes to soft washing chemicals. Our original soft washing additive Green Wash has been in use since 1994 (lovingly referred to as Duck Sauce) and has gone through several generational changes for the better through the years. In 1994 this soft washing additive was tested in a major shingle manufacturers' laboratory and judged safe for use on shingle roofs. In the testing process two shingles were taken directly from the manufacturing line for testing purposes.
