Industrial roofing is where Frank Larson started in 1927. King-Lar Company has led the field in quality roofing since that time. With our home of Decatur, IL being a highly industrialized city, many opportunities were presented to King-Lar for heavy metal fabrication. This work continued to open other doors for special fabrications and before long, King-Lar was building tool stands, cabinets, special jigs, and more, for major manufacturers such as Caterpillar, ADM, AE Staley, Wagner Castings, and others. Our reputation continued to grow, and fabricated items were built and shipped to many locations outside of Decatur. That is still the case today.
After WWII, when natural gas became more available to the residential market, King-Lar jumped into the home heating and air conditioning business. Forming an alliance with Lennox Industries that still exists today, King-Lar established themselves as a dependable and reliable provider of home heating and cooling systems. As one of the first in the the area to offer 24/7 service, including holidays, we still offer that convenience and service to our valuable customers. Our service technicians regularly attend training seminars to stay current with the latest and newest technology.
Over the years King-Lar has installed numerous large air conditioning systems at Decatur Memorial Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur Public Schools, Eastern Illinois University, and most recently the football stadium at Champaign, Illinois. We service equipment from most major manufacturers of cooling and heating equipment such as Trane, Lennox, Carrier, McQuay, custom built air handling equipment, and energy recovery units. We have certified Test and Balance technicians on our staff, with necessary state of the art equipment to check air volumes and air flows in any system.
