If you experience a water leak on your property, use the main water shut off valve to stop the flow of water. If you cannot locate or shut off the valve, call 311 or (919) 469-4000 outside Cary to have the water shut off at the meter. Property owners are responsible for repairs both inside the home and from the dwelling to the water meter. The Town is responsible for repairing leaks in the street or between the street and the meter. Cary installs and maintains all water meters and related appurtenances for residential and commercial utility customers.

Comprising almost 1,000 miles of sanitary sewer lines with over 450 of them on easements and outfalls, our wastewater collection system is built and maintained to ensure public health and protect our environment. More than 25,000 sanitary sewer manholes serve as access points to perform routine maintenance and respond to emergencies such as sanitary sewer overflows. Manholes are located in public streets, right-of-ways and on easements. We comply with our collection system permit by inspecting our entire system annually and cleaning 10 percent of the main lines as required by North Carolina law.
