Gastonia is going "green".with Green Power! The City of Gastonia offers participation in NC GreenPower to our utility customers. With a small voluntary contribution per month you can increase the amount of renewable green energy flowing in North Carolina. NC GreenPower is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2003, and is the first statewide multi-utility renewable energy program in the nation. Renewable energy comes from "greener" sources than traditional energy programs. Renewables include solar, wind, small hydro and organic matter sources.

If your landscape has high water needs, an irrigation meter may provide real cost savings because sewer charges are not applied to water used through an irrigation system. Irrigation systems installed after 2003 require a backflow assembly which is inspected not only during the initial installation but annually. Customers considering an irrigation meter should contact a licensed plumber or landscaping company prior to purchasing an irrigation meter to determine the additional costs associated with the backflow assembly.

North Carolina is a leader when it comes to new solar development. With projects ranging from 1kW residential rooftop systems to 10MW solar farms, the detail surrounding these projects can vary widely. As such, the North Carolina Municipal Power Agency (NCMPA1) and the City of Gastonia are working together to provide a smooth process for completing your solar PV project. With a Buy All/Sell All approach, we encourage and promote solar PV projects that connect safely to our grid while also ensuring a fair cost distribution among all rate payers.
