Following a two-year process that consisted of over 50 public meetings and workshops, on June 26, 2006, the City adopted its first General Plan. The General Plan serves as the blueprint for future growth and development; the blueprint to "Build a City." The Plan contains policies and programs designed to provide decision makers with a solid foundation for land use and development decisions. It organizes the desires of Rancho Cordova residents with respect to the physical, social, economic, and environmental character of the City.
The City of Rancho Cordova provides curbside collection of garbage, yard waste, and recycling for residential properties which include single family homes, mixed use properties, duplexes, triplexes, and some fourplexes. The City's residential solid waste and recycling services are provided by Republic Services, Inc. Beginning November 1 through January 31, Republic Services will be offering additional leaf pick-up for Rancho Cordova residents. Residents may place up to four 30-gallon bags of leaves next to their green waste cart on their normal green waste collection day for pick-up.
