Need a sump pump or to replace your existing sump pump? Not all pumps are created equal. Often times a big box store sump pump is not going to get the job done. Many low end pumps that only pump water are called "dewatering pumps". In Western New York and Pennsylvania, including Orchard Park, Hamburg, Dunkirk, Jamestown, and Erie PA, sump pumps will need to discharge silt and sediment along with the water that enters the basin (where the sump pump is positioned). These pumps are higher end and called "dewatering / effluent pumps" because they pump both liquids and small solids.
