A big change came about for Finke Gardens in 2018. After 23 seasons as a retail garden center, the decision was made to permanently close the store. The design, planting, and management of sustainable landscapes continue as it always had. Trees and shrubs can still be purchased from Finke Gardens by calling the business office to make arrangements for pickup, or by sending requests to "Ask Rich". Finke Gardens was launched in 1987 with Rich and Luann Finke's goals of providing a broader palette of plants for Nebraska gardens and helping people make better decisions about how they are used in their landscape.

Landscape Design that Works for You: Finke Gardens works to design your landscape to be enjoyable, beautiful, beneficial and sustainable. Matching your preferences and interests can guide choices for your plan, creating a landscape that is uniquely your own. Embrace the idea of planning for displays of winter landscape texture, form and evergreen color. This study of snowy, dormant days can provide ideas for how plants can offer visual contrast beyond the growing season.

At Finke Gardens we feel each landscape design project is unique and that's why we work closely with homeowners to develop a personalized landscape design that reflects their personal preferences and interests. Whether you're interested in gardening, or just having a pleasant outdoor space to share time with your family and friends, Finke Gardens can provide a well-planned landscape that is both functional and eye-catching. We specialize in combining native and hardy introduced plants, bringing the Nebraska Style landscape to your home.

Like children growing from toddlers to teenagers or puppies becoming faithful companions, landscapes are transformed as time goes by. A tree once no taller than you is now shading out the plants below; a shrub that seemed miles away from your walkway now crowds the path; and nicely defined bed edges are blurred with encroaching turf grass. Too much water? Too little water? Even with advances in irrigation systems it is critical to check plants to confirm they receiving the proper amount of water.

Our staff has the gardening experience, design training, and professional qualifications that can provide invaluable insight to assess issues within your particular landscape. Our experienced horticultural staff will give you the advice and recommendations you need to work with our retail staff in picking out new plants and gardening accessories. Includes a one hour at-home consultation when we address your gardening questions and give advice on current problems, areas that would benefit from new plantings, and how you can get the most enjoyment from your outdoor spaces.

We have bought a couple of trees here for my parents in the last couple of years. They are very beautiful and well groomed. The staff was excellent at.

Finke Gardens have everything you need and very helpful staff!

What's new?

Sweetgum isn’t showing the red we often see in fall color - probably due to the dry season. Still brilliant contrast to beautiful blue Nebraska sky
