Suburban Lawn & Garden was started by Bill Stueck in the early 1950's as a lawn mowing business while he was in grade school. In the fifty plus years since, Suburban has grown into a multi-faceted retail, wholesale and service organization dedicated to the principles of growing superior products, providing excellent service and always delivering great value. Suburban has two growing facilities that supply nearly 75% of the trees, shrubs and bedding plants sold at the nurseries. Suburban also maintains a yard-waste recycling center which accepts yard-waste for recycling into mulch and soil products.

Since 1989, Suburban has been processing and recycling Kanas City's organic plant waste, keeping millions of tons of waste out of landfills, and turning it into compost and mulch instead. Regulated by the USDA, EPA and Missouri Department of Natural Resources; Suburban strives to offer the cleanest, friendliest, and most convenient Yardwaste site in the country. This facility is open to both residential and commercial customers 7 days a week in the spring, summer and fall, and 5 days a week in the winter.

The huge new greenhouse at our Lenexa location opened in spring 2018. Located just west of K7 Highway in Lenexa, this 26-acre site now stocks the same complete assortment of gardening items as the Roe Avenue and 135th street stores. Open year-round, customers in the Western half of the Kansas City metro and beyond now have a destination garden center closer to home.

Open since 1965, this original "flagship" garden center doubled as the headquarters for Bill and Bo Stueck's growing lawn and landscaping business, and has been a Johnson County landmark for over 50 years. As the city has grown around it, so too has the garden center. Specializing in new and unique garden plants and accessories, the "Roe Store" is always bringing in fresh roses, perennials and flowers from our farm in Edgerton, Kansas to provide a convenient one-stop garden shop.

Your new plants need your care and attention, but if your tree or shrub does not survive, just bring back the dead plant along with the original receipt within the 2 year guarantee period to the customer service counter at any of our locations. We will give you a replacement credit for the amount you originally paid. No cash refunds will be given. The exact variety, size or price of the plant you originally purchased may not be available.
