It started in 1982. With a degree in both horticulture and landscape architecture, and a cultivated mixture of professional design and hard labor, Mirror Lake was born out of the extra bedroom in a modest home in North Houston. I was working seventy-five-hour weeks in an industry that my mother, with chagrin, referred to as a "seasonal occupation". Over the years Mirror Lake has grown, and with it, so have my client's desires. As a landscape architect, I am asked to create special places that set the stage for great family memories.
I cannot say enough about Mirror Lake Designs and their excellent work. Shawn and his team worked with us from beginning to end to put together a wonderful extended outdoor patio, fountain and beautiful surrounding landscape. Shawn's vision helped us to "see" the possibilities of the project, and he was very open to our input as we worked through to the final design. He's excellent at what he does and, just as important, Shawn wants his clients to be happy with the results. In addition, his crew and all involved at Mirror Lake Designs are top notch. Shawn Kelly and company at Mirror Lake Designs is the only company that I use to make the outside of my home a paradise. I have used them multiple times at two houses and everything has always turned out better than I could have expected. When I sold my last home it was the backyard pool, outdoor kitchen, and landscaping that made the home sell quickly for top dollar. After buying our first house we had Mirror Lake come out to see what we could do to our back yard. Needless to say the idea of paying a fee just to get a design seemed a bit crazy but we had seen their work and it was obvious they knew what they were doing so we bit the bullet and wrote the check.best decision we ever made! The plan was beautiful and yes, way to expensive to put in completely but Shawn worked with us in how we could do it in stages. So far we have only put in the large patio with boulders and a planter with some trees but we can see how it will develop as we add to it. Was it a lot of money for new homeowners? Yes, but it may be the best money we have spent! We now have an incredible living space in the back yard and it will only get better as we continue with his design.(By the way, congratulations on being named "small business of the year.")
