Peg suggested our company name. We saw an old poster showing an Irish chimney sweep holding a goose. After we had been in business for a few years, we were told by an old Hungarian lady that when she was a youngster, they used a "very durable" goose wing for a hearth broom! Synergy is the concept that when we all work together, the end result is greater than if each of us works independently. There is a great deal to be learned from the teamwork shown in Lessons From the Geese. Lesson: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the 'thrust' of one another.
The purpose of a chimney is to safely vent the by-products of burning all types of fuel out of your home and into the outside air. Chimneys require regular inspection, cleaning, and sometimes repair, to function properly and for your peace of mind.
Education, training and certification are ongoing for us here at Black Goose Chimney & Duct. Our technicians hold the highest and most recognized certifications available in the chimney and venting industry. The Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) certification from the National Air Duct Association (NADCA) is a world wide credential for a person's knowledge and skills related to HVAC system hygiene. This training promotes the safe and responsible installation and use of hearth products. It was developed in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association, the National Bureau of Standards, Underwriter's Laboratory, the insurance industry, Hearth Patio and Barbeque Association and the National Chimney Sweep Guild.
The crew at Black Goose is professional and gets the job done. They recently cleaned the ducts at a cabin which had 20 years of buildup, and even came to Grand Marais to do the work.
