Did you know that The National Fire Protection Association recommends having your chimney inspected at least once per year? According to Standard 211, Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary. It's important to note that this standard still applies even if you don't use your fireplace or chimney system often. Deterioration and blockages can still occur, making the chimney unsafe for use.

Neglected & unsafe chimneys account for a significant number of injuries and deaths each year totaling more than $200 million in property losses every year. Since a damaged, deteriorating, or blocked chimney can cause chimney fires or carbon monoxide poisoning, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends having an annual chimney cleaning and chimney inspection each year. Our fully trained, certified chimney sweep technicians take pride in providing the best chimney sweep and chimney cleaning in all of Connecticut.

Since the chimney liner is one of the most important components of the whole chimney system, it's extremely important to have a properly functioning chimney liner in good condition. During an annual inspection, our certified chimney sweeps will analyze the condition of your liner and identify any areas of vulnerability. If there are any cracks, blockages, or deterioration, we offer chimney relining services. Connecticut homes and chimneys are subject to harsh weather conditions during the course of the year that can wear down the integrity of a chimney's masonry materials.

We can determine chimney integrity and whether or not your particular installation and chimney system meet current safety standards. Our unique camera enables us to perform internal inspections of your chimney. We can send a camera to those hard-to-see areas to get a more complete evaluation of the condition of your chimney. The venting system of your furnace or heating system needs annual cleaning and maintenance, too. Although the particulate build-up is not as great as a fireplace or stove, the connections that vent your unit need to be removed and cleaned out.

The brick and masonry material of your chimney is constantly exposed to the elements. After years of enduring harsh weather conditions and regular usage, your chimney's mortar will begin to deteriorate. This will leave your chimney susceptible to excessive moisture which is why it's imperative to repair or replace the mortar before serious and expensive damage happens. For severely worn chimneys, our certified chimney specialists will perform tuckpointing, which involves scraping out deteriorating or ineffective mortar and then replacing it with fresh mortar in order to recreate the original condition of your bricks and mortar.

While traditional, open burning fireplaces are an aesthetic addition to your home, they offer very little heat output and can even contribute to wasted energy. For homeowners that love the down-home feel that a fireplace offers, but want better heat efficiency and less legwork, a fireplace insert is the perfect option. A fireplace insert is a close-combustion firebox that is installed directly into the opening of your current masonry fireplace. This instant upgrade immediately increases your energy efficiency and heating capacity exponentially so you can start cutting your heating bills and start leaning towards energy independence.

We have been customers for almost 30 years, using Norteastern for cleanings, masonry and liners. They are consistently timely, effective, efficient.
