It's extremely important to keep up with the proper maintenance of your fireplace, stove, and chimney, and most of us find that pretty easy to remember. But it's just as important to properly maintain your dryer vents. Your dryer is producing considerable heat, and your vent is ushering that hot air away from the appliance, bringing lint, debris, and other particles along with it. That buildup can restrict the air flow in the vent itself, making the dryer work harder and at higher heats. Lint, as you can imagine, is highly flammable.

When you look at your masonry chimney, you'll see bricks connected by various mortar joints. When properly maintained, those joints can be resilient and long-lasting, standing up to the elements and use for decades. But your masonry is susceptible to damage, and like armor with a chink in it, even small openings can allow for big problems. If the mortar joints are failing, or your brick is showing signs of damage, you'll need tuckpointing work. Cosmetic problems can be solved with tuckpointing work.

Advanced Chimney Techniques, Inc. was founded in 1986 by the certified sweep and licensed Master Mechanical Contractor Dale Deraps. It's hard to not be impressed with the beauty and longevity of masonry. At Advanced Chimney Techniques, we've worked on chimneys in historic homes that have withstood decade upon decade of weather and use, and still, look beautiful and ably perform their job. We love helping our customers keep their masonry chimney systems in top shape, and we take a lot of pride in turning a failing chimney into a beautiful, functional part of home again. If you're located in Columbia, Jefferson City or Central Missouri, Advanced Chimney Techniques can help with all of your masonry repair and restoration needs!

Gas is a hugely popular fuel choice for fireplaces and other heating appliances these days. Gas fireplaces can be a highly convenient and clean alternative to wood-burning appliances. Instead of stacking wood, building a fire, and sweeping ash as you would with a traditional wood-burning unit, a gas fireplace typically only requires that you push a button and set your temperature. As quick and convenient as gas appliances are, they need upkeep in order to function properly and safely. Gas is no different from any other fuel source, in that it is using combustion to create heat.

At Advanced Chimney Techniques, our guiding principle is to ensure that our customers are kept "secure and warm". If you already have a fireplace or stove, we want to help you continue enjoying those crackling fires whenever you want. If you miss the warmth and atmosphere of a fireplace or stove and you're looking to install a new appliance, Advanced Chimney Techniques can help you find the right unit for your space and needs. At Advanced Chimney Techniques, your sense of security is our No. 1 priority.

Advanced Chimney Techniques has been maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding chimneys in the mid-Missouri. If you have a masonry chimney that's beginning to show signs of degradation, or if your chimney is so damaged that a rebuild is the only option, call us. Our guiding goal is to ensure that our customers stay "safe and warm" - that means getting you back to enjoying a fire as soon as possible, and as safely and efficiently as possible. This list is just the start! Whatever your chimney needs are, give us a call — Advanced Chimney Techniques can help.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) sets the safety standard for chimneys in its 211 code, and part of that code outlines the necessity for a professional chimney cleaning once a year. There are a variety of reasons why an annual chimney sweeping is important. For your chimney to function properly and continue venting toxic gases and harmful debris away from your living area, the flue needs to be free of blockages. With time and use, your flue can develop a significant build-up of creosote, a sometimes sticky, sometimes puffy or flaky, but always very flammable deposit.

When we bought our home, ACT caught an issue with an exhaust pipe that had collapsed. It had gone undetected prior to their eyes and it ended up saving us nearly $3000 in repairs AND more importantly, our lives, as we could have been poisoned by carbon monoxide had they not found it. Thank you so much and we are big fans!

A great experience from visiting the showroom and picking out a stove to the installation! Omie and Jeff answered any question we had and the install went flawless. We sure like our wood stove from Advanced Chimney. Thank you!

Doing a great job, very creative minds exceed my expectations. My home never had a wood stove and going from none to one took some creative thinking. Awesome changes going on at my home right now.
