Sweeping a chimney is a necessary maintenance task recommended to prevent creosote buildup - a precursor to chimney fires - as well as ash and soot buildup. A clean chimney also draws more efficiently. Dry vent cleaning removes lint and other debris that could become jammed in the venting system and lead to a fire. Only about 25% of the lint from your clothes is collected by the lint trap that slides out the front of the dryer.
Alpine Chimney Sweep is a family owned and operated business since 1986 when Ray and Patricia Fraser started the company in Omaha. Over the years, four of their children and two of their nieces have owned and operated iterations of Alpine Chimney Sweep across the Midwest. Today it is Ray and Patricia's daughter Janie who continues to run the family chimney sweeping business. She operates in the Omaha area, Des Moines area, and Joplin area. Her son Jacob - a third generation chimney sweep - owns and operates Alpine Chimney Sweep out of Taos, New Mexico.
For safety's sake, please stop using your fireplace, wood stove, or gas stove 12 hours prior to our arrival. We need to work on an appliance that is completely cool. Make sure that there is reasonable access to the roof and a clear space for our ladders as well as a working outlet for our vacuum. During the winter, please shovel your walkway and/or driveway so that our technicians can safely move their ladders and other equipment. Please have any manuals available for our technicians to review. Each appliance is unique and having the manufacturer's guidelines handy enhances our inspection process.
We are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and use the national codes and standards to guide our inspection procedures. The National Fire Protection Association and the Chimney Safety Institute of American recommend annual inspections of your chimney and venting system to prevent chimney fires, carbon monoxide intrusion and other chimney safety related hazards.
