The Rugman has two convenient locations! Our new location is a half block North of the plaza. Welcome to Santa Fe's Friendliest Rug Store The Rugman carries an exquisite collection of handmade area rugs. A Wide Range of Rug Services The Rugman of Santa Fe not only sells beautiful rugs, but also offers a range of rug services. Visit The Rugman of Santa Fe When you come for a visit to the Rugman there is usually a pot of Turkish tea ready to drink and someone from our family to welcome you.

We carry mostly natural dyed rugs handmade from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Balkans, the Caucasus and Turkey. Due to our close relationship with rug makers cultivated over the last 16 years, we know exactly how our rugs are made, who is making them, and what materials are used, which ensures that your rug is of the highest quality, and made beautifully and ethically. Each rug is chosen by Ercan on yearly buying trips and brought to you with care and a discerning eye for color, quality, and price.

The Traditional rugs we carry are mainly produced in Afghanistan. The varied designs found in traditional rugs originate from Persian, Turkish, or Indian classical designs, and often incorporate intricate floral or geometric patterns.

We can repair all rugs, except those that are machine made. It is best to bring the rug to The Rugman for an estimate on the cost and time it will take to repair. We do our best to match the repair material to the original color and texture of the rug. We also use the proper knotting technique specific to the particular rug type.

The Rug Buyer's Guide is based on a compiled list of questions we've received from our customers over the years and we hope it will enhance your rug buying experience. Click on the topic below, or download the entire Buyer's Guide by clicking the icon to the right. Some customers want an old rug; they are interested in collecting antiques, period. But, for those who are not as committed to owning antique rugs, new rugs are an excellent choice. New rugs are made using similar techniques, such as hand-spun wool, Turkish or Persian knots, that you would find in many antique rugs.

The Rugman of Santa Fe offers three different types of rug pads. We recommend that customers use a rug pad for smaller rugs, high traffic areas, large area rugs if they are placed on uneven floors (for example, Saltillo tiles), and if extra padding is desired. Rug pads secure the rug and prevent slippage. Also, rug pads can increase the longevity of the rug by providing a barrier between the rug and the hard surface below. This 100% natural wool rug pad is biodegradable, non-flammable, water resistant, and durable.

We hand wash all rugs, including silk, Navajo, and antique rugs with biodegradable, gentle soap and water. We also offer moth proofing and de-bleeding - please contact us for pricing.
