Not just about old houses (although we do know old houses very well), Vintage is really about creating all kinds of custom kitchens, bathrooms and other cabinetry installations that work very well for the people that use them, and look great in the homes they are installed in. The styles may vary, but these projects share a track record of long-lasting value thanks to both the quality of the cabinetry itself and the longevity of well thought out design. Sue got her start designing kitchens in 1985 after becoming inspired by renovating her own Bungalow kitchen.

These days, there are many different countertop material choices - not to mention different colors, patterns and detail options within each family of material - and they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. They can all be great choices for different reasons in different situations. We can help you select just the right countertop for your project, and also assure a professional installation. Just the word "granite" evokes solid and long-lasting; how reassuring to have such a durable surface in your home, and such a beautiful and natural material, too.

Just the word "granite" evokes solid and long-lasting; how reassuring to have such a durable surface in your home, and such a beautiful and natural material, too. No wonder it has become such a popular countertop choice. As the popularity of stone countertops has increased, so have the sources and varieties of stone that are available - some of which are not technically "granite" at all. Not to worry though, they are all beautiful in their own way! New Hampshire, despite having a long history of granite quarries, does not produce very much countertop grade granite, yet there is still some limited availability.

From the heart of Amish country in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Quality builds all kinds of kitchen, bathroom and media cabinetry in a full range of styles from Traditional to European Modern. They share our commitment to quality materials, durable construction and timeless design. Quality is very highly regarded as a national leader in cabinet quality and style and they feature especially beautiful finishes. This comfortably elegant kitchen makes its home in a vintage 1930's brick house that is reminiscent of an old world country Manor House.

Working with three different custom cabinet makers, we can provide just the right choice for your project. We have carefully chosen the companies we work with for their reliability, commitment to quality, value, design style, and environmentally sound practices. These highly regarded cabinet makers offer a full range of style choices and cabinet construction features from traditional inset to ultra-modern full overlay, in a variety of price brackets -- the choice is yours! If you want the kind of unique fully custom cabinetry that needs to be locally made in a small custom woodworking shop, you are in luck, because we offer that.

Wood can be a wonderful material for countertops. If you think of it, wooden table tops were the original kitchen counters. Of course, over the years other materials have taken over, but wood remains a beautiful material to use, even if judiciously, in your kitchen. Here in New Hampshire we are fortunate to have a wide variety of beautiful local woods available, plus the usual imported species available. If your wood counter is to be used for cutting, a food-safe oil finish is imperative, and butcher block is specifically designed for this.

Capturing the essence of an old house in a new design helps 'bring home' a new kitchen and adds longevity to the design. This essence can be interpreted in different ways that reflect modern needs without getting swept up in modern trends. With a name like Vintage Kitchens, it is no surprise that we do know old houses very well, and we truly care about them. Our own showroom is located in an 1850's Greek Revival style residence, reflecting many of the same challenges faced by other old house owners.

We believe that sound professional design is just as important as good quality materials in bringing the best value to your kitchen over the long run. Good design lasts, just as good material lasts. From your first phone call to your last follow-up, we are committed to bringing you a pleasant, professional and unpressured experience. At Vintage Kitchens, we never lose track of the fact that it is ultimately your home and your kitchen; our job is to apply our professional skills to bringing shape to your dream.

We find the best way to get started is for you to come in for a browse of our showroom, get acquainted with our staff, and see first hand what we offer in cabinetry. A walk through our display vignettes, and a browse through one of our portfolios chock-full of completed projects -- in a wide variety of design styles and budgets, all of our own design -- is guaranteed to jump-start your own creative ideas! We maintain a large selection of sample doors, as well as countertop, molding, hardware and color samples so you can have great fun mixing and matching choices.

Bathroom design brings its own special challenges, with conflicting demands of access versus privacy, functionality versus esthetics -- not to mention different plumbing and storage needs that all have to fit into what is often a compact space. And of course there are considerations of budget. Yet, as the last room we visit before we retire and the first we face in the morning, a bathroom can serve an important role in shaping our day. The Vintage Kitchens bathroom design approach begins with efficient space planning that creatively takes advantage of your available space, working in our collaborative approach with you so that the final design reflects your own priorities.

For new construction, we like to get on board with your architect and/or builder early during the design phase, so that your Vintage Kitchens plan smoothly integrates with your overall house plan. Having worked with many local architects we understand that every architect has their own working model, and we can adapt our role as kitchen specialists as necessary to fit into whatever design model they prefer. We do our preliminary take-offs from your house plans, and can conduct our meetings either at your existing home, your architect or builder's office or right here in our showroom - whatever works best depending on the kind of decisions that are on the table.
