In the early years of the 1900s, Paul H. Miller started a small window screen manufacturing business in a shop behind his southside home. His slogan "We make monkeys out of flies." At that time the traditional cupboard, pantry or tin-paneled kitchen safe was considered good enough for any cook or housewife. But by 1921, Miller was wondering if kitchen planning and storage couldn't be improved. He began turning out custom made kitchen cabinets for his friends and neighbors and became one of the first in Indianapolis to make "set-in" or built-in kitchen cabinets.
