We converted a roomy-yet-bland vaulted great room addition in a renovated Old Leawood ranch into a warm, timber-beamed activity-center of the home. Overhead, heavy hand-hewn beam trusses celebrate the room's height even while bringing it down to a more intimate level. A new stacked-stone fireplace divides the longest wall. At the gabled exterior end, a grouping of patio windows and door provides a picturesque view of the rear lawn and convenient access to the 3-season deck. At the room's other end, a stacked stone wet bar sets the mood for casual entertainment, and has a punch of the unexpected - custom glass "stones" backlit with color-changing fiber-optics!
