The city of Long Beach is home to 17 designated historic districts, each neighborhood built in a common era. Often, homes are similar in architectural style and overall appearance, forming a distinct and cohesive unit. If your home is located in Cal Heights, Bluff Park, Belmont Shore or another historic neighborhood, virtually any remodeling project will have to go through an extensive review process, which - if done improperly - can take many months to complete. Even interior work, such as kitchen remodels, require special attention in a historic district.
