How heat pumps work? Heat pumps operate the same way traditional air conditioning systems operate. The only difference between the two is the heating mode. During the heating mode heat pumps transfer the heat from outside your home to inside your home while removing the cool air inside your home. This is a more energy efficient way to heat your home then with electric heat strips alone. To find out if a heat pump is right for you contact Ken's Heating and Air today. Did you know that when your heat pump is heating your home that it periodically runs a mode called "defrost"?

A heat pump air conditioning system is only made up of two components. The first is the outside heat pump unit. The heat pump is very similar to the condenser on a traditional air conditioning system, however during the heating cycle it operates by reversing the flow of refrigerant which removes the cold air from your home. The second piece is the inside air handler unit. This air handler unit combines both the evaporator coil that receives the pumped refrigerant and a blower assembly that moves the air in your home into one piece of equipment.

Ductless mini splits are a great way to save money and keep your home extremely comfortable.

What's new?

Is your outdoor unit clear of debris — including the condenser coils?
