Ulupono Initiative

The majority of Hawaii's fossil fuels is used to move people and goods, with ground transportation accounting for 27% of the state's total petroleum usage and 53% of greenhouse gas emissions. With Hawaii importing nearly 90% of its food, our island communities are at risk of food insecurity resulting from events beyond our control, such as major hurricanes or shipping delays. I really love doing what I'm doing, and hopefully creating a better community and world for my kids to inherit. As an impact investment firm, Ulupono invests with purpose, and we reinvest any returns back into the work.

We aim to play a catalytic role with our investments, providing capital and guidance that will take a solid plan further, faster.

We invest, educate and advocate to support locally produced food, renewable energy, clean transportation, and wise management of fresh water and waste. Acknowledging we don't know what we don't know, our team works to better understanding of our focus areas and shares what we have learned to build capacity.
