Our business started in 1979 as Dan's Solar Supply when Dan Bengel, with the help of his wife, Joann, began installing solar heating units. To further meet their customer's needs they became an authorized heating and cooling dealer and installer. The company name was changed to Enercon Systems, Incorporated. As Enercon Systems, Inc., grew, Dan and Joann's son, Nick, was naturally included in their successful business. The experience Nick gained led to his earning a degree from Ferris State University's HVAC&R program.

ESI Heating is experienced in the service, repair, and installation of heat pumps in Portland, MI, and its surrounding area. A heat pump is a device that transfers heat from one place to another, from indoors to outdoors or from outdoors to indoors. For homes with no access to natural gas, heat pumps offer an efficient and reliable solution for heating and cooling. In the winter, a heat pump works like a heater, extracting heat energy from outside and transferring it inside. In the summer, the process reverses, and it will remove heat from your home and transfer it outside like an air conditioner.

The condenser fan went out and I called ESI Thursday at 5:05. It was running Friday at 4. The prompt and professional service was 5 star, but the over 300 percent markup on the parts doesn't warrant a star. I'll give a generous 3 star overall.
Always friendly and courteous and excellent service! Mike C. is a great guy, very professional and friendly!
I called for emergency service on a Monday morning and was treated with the most disrespect I've ever experienced by any business I've ever had to call. The receptionist was rude, abrasive, and condescending. We spent a substantial amount of money buying our furnace & central air at ESI in 2006 and ended up having to replace the furnace just 9 years later. I do NOT recommend this business to anybody.
You turn on your heat pump, and you smell something burning. What should you do? Who should you call first, the fire department or your HVAC technician? First assess what the smell most likely is, and you may not need to call anyone. Of course, if you’re still nervous because you just don’t know,...

20 years ago the HVAC industry changed forever. This was the day that Randy "The Turtle" Martin joined the ESI Heating team. We want to take this opportunity to thank him for 20 years of dedication and hard work. Probably a better nickname should be Mr. Reliable. Thank you and here's to another 20-years.
One of the many reasons we moved our business here was because of the traffic count and Choppers parking lot count. I have seen this parking lot completely full on many of occasions. Kind of weird looking out my window today and seeing this again, made a cold February day seem that much better. ...
