Engaged in design, installation and service ranging from small coolers and freezers to larger industrial freezing, chilling and cold storage systems, and HVAC. Our industry brings a significant exposure to the risks of injury during construction and service, loss of product in an operating system, and to environmental issues resulting from the handling of refrigerants, lubricants and other chemicals. Our well-equipped shop is located in the Ballard section of Seattle, WA, stocked with an extensive inventory of equipment and parts for refrigeration and HVAC. Our technicians and fabricators are experienced, safe, well-trained and motivated, and everyone here takes pride in delivering the best customer service possible. Bowman Refrigeration was started by Dave Bowman in 1984 to perform service work and startups as a contractor to Sabroe Denmark, a company he had developed a relationship with while installing and servicing their systems on Alaska fishing vessels.

Our marine and industrial roots inevitably led to our being involved in commercial refrigeration, beginning with servicing walk in coolers and freezers on board fishing vessels incidental to our larger systems. Today we design and install commercial systems not only on board vessels, but for stationary operations as well.

Bowman Refrigeration started with marine refrigeration in 1984. We have branched out into numerous other areas since then, but marine refrigeration is still the foundation upon which all our other capabilities are built. Marine applications present some of the most interesting challenges to solve: tight spaces, harsh operating conditions, operation far away from professional service, etc. We have been meeting those challenges head on for over 30 years. We are well versed in all aspects of industrial refrigeration across a broad spectrum of applications including cold storage, process chilling, and process freezing (immersion, blast, contact).

Our HVAC experience began with service of existing systems on vessels belonging to several local cruise lines. Becoming the area's only Carrier Marine Dealer took us head first into Marine HVAC and with each passing year it occupies a larger portion of our sales. We have provided service, new systems and major upgrades on a number of tug boats, private and government research vessels, military ships and ferries.
