Baldwin EMC is a member-owned cooperative supplying electric service to more than 80,000 meters throughout Baldwin County and southern Monroe County in southwestern Alabama. Our service territory is located between Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida, and includes beautiful Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. We are the largest electric cooperative in the state of Alabama and one of the fastest-growing electric cooperatives in the nation. Baldwin EMC was organized in 1937, and experienced leadership combined with sound business principles have allowed us to thrive as an organization.

We welcome your comments, but our dispatch crew is not able to respond to emergencies via email. For your safety, please notify the proper authority by phone if you have an electrical emergency. If you have an electrical fire, make sure everyone leaves the building. Call 911 right away if you don't think you can extinguish the fire. Then, if the fire is still small (for example, confined to an appliance), unplug the appliance or turn off the electricity, but don't touch the appliance. Never put water on an electrical fire.

Surge protection products help guard against power surges and lightning that cause a major concern for many of our members. You can have the peace of mind of knowing your appliances have a high level of protection to help guard against power surges, and help protect against lightning that may enter your home through the electrical system. This protection is for the electrical system only. It does not give protection to phone or cable wires. Please note: Surge protection equipment will not protect you or your home against a direct lightning strike.

Need more outside lighting at night? We will install and maintain a 50 Watt LED outdoor light on an existing Baldwin EMC pole in your yard for an installation charge and a small monthly fee. Call (251) 989-6247 for details or to order, or submit our Outdoor Light Request Form. Light emitting diode (LED) lights are our members' newest option for outdoor lighting. The benefits of LED lighting include: energy-efficiency, durability in inclement weather, longer lifespan, reduced maintenance requirements, and light that stays downward, reducing light pollution.

A high-efficiency heat pump provides central air conditioning as well as heating, uses less energy than traditional electric heating systems, and helps to preserve the environment. Because a heat pump has no flame or combustion, it eliminates the creation of dangerous pollutants like carbon monoxide. Heat pumps operate by moving or transferring heat rather than by creating it. During the summer, a heat pump captures heat from inside a home or business and transfers it to the outside through a condensing unit.
