Bed Bugs are a human parasite. Although they do not transfer disease, bites are often traumatic for the person being bitten. In order to properly eradicate a bed bug population a combination of heat and residual products are used. Most of the time NO household items need to be thrown away. We can safely treat most household items including mattresses, boxsprings, and furniture.
Core aerating is arguably the most beneficial thing you can do for your lawn. Aeration pulls up to 4 plugs from your lawn. The plugs then decompose back into the soil. The holes created then allow nutrients and water to reach critical root areas of your grass plants thickening up your turf.
A healthy lawn is dependent in proper nutrition and personalized attention. Studies by the University of Minnesota and Iowa provide information that a healthy, vigorous lawn is a positive contribution to a cleaner environment. A study done by UC-Irvine in 2010 concluded that maintaining a healthy lawn is a positive sequester of carbon.
On the right you can see the many things we do to help make your home feel more like your home. Twin Ports Pest Managment uses Integrated Pest Management for pest control issues. IPM is a control strategy that uses methods that are least injurious to the environment. Pesticides are used so they pose the least possible hazard, and are used as a 'last resort' when other controls are inadequate. IPM is an approach to managing pests by combining cultural, physical and chemical tools in a way that reduces economic, health and environmental risks.
Thatch is a layer of living and dead organic matter between your grass and soil surface. Thatch over 1/2 thick is considered a problem and should be corrected. Excessive thatch creates a breeding ground for turf damaging insects and disease. Thatch blocks water and nutrients from getting to the root of grass plant, starving it. Too heavy of nitrogen applications and overwatering can lead to thatch. Thatch happens when grass grows faster than it can decompose. In most cases thatch can be corrected with core aerification, but in some cases when thatch is really thick, the turf needs to be de-thatched with a special raking machine.
At Twin Ports Pest & Lawn Management we use a high quality, slow release fertilizer. We use a stabilizer in our fertilizer that feeds for up to two months no matter how much or little rain we have. The fall application of fertilizer is a quick release fertilizer (winterize) for fast storage of nutrients.
Tired of all those unsightly weeds in your lawn? Our weed management knocks out your weeds leaving your turf to fill in the areas left behind. Products used are EPA registered products that will literally get to the root of your problem. Our herbicides selectively get rid of the unwanted weeds, leaving your desirable turf grass to reach its full potenetial. The product just doesn't control the top of the weed, but the whole plant.
