Although they are found all over the state, drywood termites are extremely rare in our local area. The only infestations I have ever heard of in our area I have found in Cedar Hill near the colorado border over 10 years ago, and in Blanco NM about 4 years ago. Both in very old houses, and the infestation was active and very severe where a complete replacement of the wood was necessary. Unlike subterranean termites, drywood termites recieve theire moisture from inside the wood itself, squeezing all the moisture out, and leaving behing very distiguishable grooved, oval shaped fecal pellets which they will discard through exit holes they make it the wood.
