Early in 1994, after the local lumber yard, Moodus Lumber, closed; Shagbark purchased its first load of lumber and added Lumber to our name. We hired Moodus Lumber's most experienced lumber specialists to work for us, and to this day, are still a valuable staple of our company. We began the steady climb toward the Shagbark you see today. During this time, we put up five new buildings to house inventory and purchased eleven delivery trucks including a tractor trailer and a boom truck. Soon after the addition of lumber, came the addition of a custom Mill Shop to produce doors & windows.

Engineered wood products are stronger, more reliable, and when installed, use 50% less wood than ordinary lumber. Using engineered wood products is a more efficient use of valuable natural resources. Our experienced sales staff can assist you in calculating beam sizes and engineered floor systems for the ultimate in structural integrity and design options. We feature brands such as Boise, Advantech, and Universal Forest Products. Give us your conventional framing material plans and we'll convert them to an engineered framing system.

Our Building Materials department is at the heart of Shagbark. We have materials for every part of your project, including lumber, decking, doors and windows, flooring, siding, insulation, sheetrock, plywood, roofing, fencing, concrete and blocks, as well as bulkhead doors. Our Millwork Shop is ready to assist with problems small or large. From glass cutting, and re-screening, to everything you need for remodeling a staircase, and much more.

Our mill shop department combines the highest craftsmanship with quality materials.
