San Antonio Steel Company is the nation's largest wholesale distributor of agricultural fencing and construction reinforcement products. We provide lumber yards, cooperatives and feed stores across Texas a full-range of agricultural fencing supplies and construction reinforcement products. The field fence, panels, t-posts, barbed wire, rebar and accessories we carry come from a variety of domestic and international manufacturers. San Antonio Steel Company is the exclusive distributor of The 50-Year Fence.

San Antonio Steel Company (SASCO) was founded in 1965 as a wholesale distribution company that primarily sold nails and wire. L.C. "Chaz" Neely, Jr. purchased the company in 1979, and grew SASCO into the largest wholesale distributor of agricultural fencing in the United States. In 2016, a small group of San Antonio-based families acquired San Antonio Steel Company. Today, we are still committed to delivering quality products at a competitive price to our dealer network, and their customers, across Texas and beyond.

This is your resource for all things related to agricultural fencing and includes guides to help you learn steel wire, wire coatings, fence knots and more. We tell our customers when it comes to fencing: Do it once. Do it Right. Fencing is an important investment-a way to keep livestock in, predators out, protection at a maximum and trespass at a minimum. It's also a time-consuming and labor-intensive job. Do that well, with well-chosen materials, and you'll only have to do it once in a generation.

The horse fence wire configuration is designed to prevent horses, cows and other hoofed animals from stepping through the wire. A tight 2"x 4" wire spacing is used to ensure the safety of the animal by preventing injuries and protecting against predators. The "S" knot design uses a separate piece of wire that attaches the line wire to the solid stay wire assuring maximum strength and prevents the fence from buckling or sagging. This design is smooth to the touch so you won't have to worry about injuries to your animals.

Texas Classic Gates are the newest, most technologically advanced pre-galvanized and hot dipped galvanized gates. These American- made products feature superior craftsmanship and a solid, welded, integrated vertical brace. The HD and HD2 gates are constructed using heavy 18 gauge, 1 5/8" tubing while our XHD and XHD2 products are extra heavy duty gates constructed with 16 gauge, 2" tubing. Both HD2 and XHD2 products are hot-dipped galvanized post-production. Texas Classic Gates are manufactured in Texas and distributed exclusively by San Antonio Steel Company.

San Antonio Steel Company is proud to carry an extensive line of name brand agricultural and construction products from a variety of reputable dealers including Bekaert, Oklahoma Steel, DeAcero, Keystone, CMC Southern Post and W. Silver. Because of our outstanding relationships with these companies, we are able to provide our customers with new, exclusive products that will differentiate you in the market place. Fixed knot fences utilize solid vertical stay wires, which increase the vertical strength of the fence and allows for increased post spacing making it very resistant to animal damage.

Agricultural fencing is made of either low carbon or high tensile wire and it is our job to make sure you know the difference between the two before you select fence for your next project, as it can help you save time and money on labor and materials. SASCO highly recommends using high tensile wire products. The result will be a stronger, longer lasting and cost effective alternative to low carbon wire. High tensile fencing is made from high carbon steel with a carbon content of.28%. High carbon wire will stretch 4% before breaking and will not sag as much as low carbon wire.

Our fencing and construction products only enter the retail market through our qualified, state-wide dealer network of farm and ranch supply stores, lumberyards, and cooperatives across Texas. Because of the way our business operates, we are unable to sell contractors or end-users no matter how big or small the job is. We have over 400 retailers, in rural and suburban areas alike, who stock our products and receive deliveries from us on a regular basis. Enter your zip code into the field below and our dealer locator will populate the dealers closest to you.

The following fence contractors and installers have been trained to use our products during an extensive hands-on, educational program. Any fence contractors who are interested in becoming a part of our 50-Year Fence Contractor Advantage Program are invited to contact us.
