The company started out by selling lumber, S4S (Surfaced 4 Sides), moulding, stairs, and custom millwork. Business quickly grew from a 30' X 40' shop to over 25,000 square feet of machine lines and inventory storage. The backbone of our growth came from 2 contributing factors. The local economy was growing at a strong pace, and the wealth of knowledge Kennard shared with his employees. In the 1970's Kennard Bowers was a vocational teacher for NYS. He designed the first cabinet maker / carpenter apprentice program for the state.

Handmade from the finest materials, Bowers & Sons will serve all your door needs. Whether it's a historical restoration project, doors for a hotel, or the front door for your house, Bowers & Sons can work with you to complete your project in a timely and convenient manner. Doors and styles may include: solid or veneered, raised panels, flat panels, full overlay panels, interior, exterior, glass of all types, curved top, anything you want - the sky is the limit. Many of our doors are custom designed to fit the style of the existing home.

We look at stairs more like a piece of fine furniture rather than just a means of getting from one floor to another. Each stair is built as an individual unit, not mass produced. Bowers & Sons has set the standard for stairs for many years. We start with site visits to measure. This many times includes working with the contractor to make sure the framing is located precisely so that the stairs function properly. We take the time to educate our customers on the locations and options of the stair and rail system.

Here at Bowers & Sons, we have been finishing for over 30 years. These 30+ years have allowed us to master the process of finishing in all aspects of the industry from small residential projects to the largest, custom commercial millwork jobs, historical restoration and every job that falls in between. With literally thousands of custom mixed stains behind us, we have mastered the art of staining and stain color matching. Whether it be from spray on dye staining, which allows us to create that deep, durable look typically only seen on high end furniture, to a hand applied wiping stain that accents highlights the wood's natural grain, we have the tools and knowledge to bring your ideas to life in your custom wood project.
