Bob Handelman, a 1958 graduate of Iowa State, started Chemstress Consultant Company in 1965, "I started Chemstress with a 1917 typewriter in my home". It started with a vision of an efficient engineering organization that provided outstanding services at a reasonable price.
Provides engineering design support for manufacturing and process related projects. Electrical services range from initial conceptual design and preliminary estimating to construction supervision, project control and estimating. Examines the interrupting ratings of the various protective devices to make sure they can satisfactorily interrupt the maximum fault current to which they might be subjected. These requirements are as specified by the National Electric Code®*, the American National Standards Institute, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Underwriters' Laboratories (where standards apply).
Provides building designs that are efficient, code compliant, and responsive to a project's requirements. Includes surveys of existing structures to assess their availability for renovation or reuse. The Architectural Department has a long history of designing "Special Use" occupancy structures housing High Hazard and potentially explosive processes.
