Acorn Deck House Company has 70 years of experience perfecting a sophisticated prefabrication system, which enables us to build custom homes in our climate-controlled manufacturing facility. Our architectural designers and craftspeople have built over twenty thousand beautiful, one-of-a-kind homes, all featuring open floor plans, walls of glass and soaring ceilings. Discover how we can make your dream home a reality. Acorn Homes feature an elegant blend of traditional and contemporary design elements for comfortable living in extraordinary surroundings.

Our homes are custom designed by our in-house Architects and priced very competitively with other custom, Architect-designed homes. The cost for the Acorn Deck House Component Package includes the custom design development by our Registered Architects from concept to complete working drawings, as well as the prefabricated structural components needed for the weathertight shell of your home: including the posts and beams, wall panels, windows and roof. Many interior finishes are also included, such as stairs, rails, doors and trim.

Panelization is the process in which construction drawings are digitally broken down and labeled into individual components. Fabrication is the manufacturing process of these components in the optimal conditions of our climate-controlled indoor environment, which eliminates site-built uncertainties i.e. Acorn Deck House Company Component Packages include all of the materials required to create a weathertight shell along with the specialty millwork used in the interior. Major components are meticulously precut and detailed for tight tolerances and an accurate fit.

After being fabricated in our factory, we ship your Acorn Deck House Component Package to be assembled and finished by your builder on site. The Component Package is shipped "just-in-time" in accordance with your builder's schedule, in a number of deliveries based on the project size, to avoid future components being stored on site and subject to weather exposure. Most Acorn Deck House Company's clients select a builder from our network of preferred builders, professionals who have been trained by Acorn Deck House Company.

Your Project Director will review a series of both quantitative and qualitative issues, which will help guide our Architects in the custom design of your home. We consider the number of rooms, their square footage, materials, costs, description of the spaces, their special features, volume and relationship to each other and the outdoors. Every Acorn Deck House Company home is guided by the principles of post and beam construction: a building system that enables large, open floor plans and the flexibility to effortlessly move interior walls as opposed to using them as structural support.

Acorn Deck House Company utilizes a streamlined prefabrication system to create custom homes in our climate-controlled manufacturing facility. Prefabrication is an umbrella term for components that are fabricated, or manufactured, in a climate-controlled indoor environment before (pre) being shipped to a job site. There are many types of prefabricated homes, the most common of which being modular and panelized. In modular prefabrication, whole sections (modules) of homes are built and finished inside of a factory before being shipped and installed on-site.

Acorn Deck House Company will continue to support your investment long after you have moved into your beautiful, new home. With your house plans safely stored in our archives for reference, we will be here to help you renovate and enhance your home for years to come. Along with our limited 5-year warranty, we also offer a dedicated Parts & Service Department that is happy to answer any questions you may have about updates to your home. For as long as you enjoy your Acorn Deck House Company home, you will join a family of homeowners that can turn to us to meet your life's ever-evolving needs - from replacement windows and doors to additions and renovations that are consistent with the style and quality of your home.

Sustainability, or the practice of building "green, " is a topic everyone seems to be talking about today. While this may be a relatively new concept for many homeowners and builders, Acorn Deck House Company brand homes have, in fact, been environmentally conscientious since 1974, when we were pioneers in designing and constructing sustainable systems. With these roots and our continued commitment to sustainability, we pride ourselves by taking all environmental factors into consideration when designing your home.

We built an Acorn home in Shrewsbury in 1984. It was one of the most amazing experiences we had to date. We were real estate broker/owners and worked with a approved contractor to do others in the same town. The quality of construction product, knowledge, guidance, and adapting to the terrain is amazing. They work to meet a buyer and/or builder's budget. Their warranty on product was exceptional for us. Although we sold this home several years ago, I would do it all over again.

Acorn/Deck House now a subsidiary of Trudeau occupies a storied place in the history of American manufactured housing and an equal place in the development of North American modern residential architecture and design.

That this company has remained operational and served customers in some form almost without interruption since 1959 is a significant feat given the ups and downs of the real estate and housing markets. That one can still purchase from them the replacement parts and upgrade materials, obtain accurate blueprints for houses built over 40 years ago and converse with people who have absorbed and can relate the experiences and technological developments that have effected these houses makes for a situation unique in the housing industry.
In this sense the extraordinary legacy of the Deck House continues to grow. Deck house owners today can expect knowledgeable advice rooted in decades of experience as regards upgrading the energy performance of the older deck houses. They can purchase replacement beams, flooring and exposed cedar ceiling materials that will match and fit houses built in the 1960's and 1970's. They can purchase stylistically consistent components to add on to these houses. They can be referred to builders experienced and knowledgeable as regards the style and construction method.
That the original mission of Deck has been expanded to a broader range of style and to create the Next House system bodes well for today's home buyers and builders.

As a custom home builder who also offers kit house options and works on the restoration of classic mid-century and modern homes. My relationship with Deck House has been essential.
